How can I sell my shares?

You can try to transfer shares to other investors through our Secondary Transfer Feature (STF).

If you'd like to sell your shares of a company, you can do so through the Secondary Transfer Feature (STF). The STF gives current investors the chance to sell shares in a company they have invested in through Netcapital and buyers the opportunity to invest in companies after they have completed a successful capital raise. It is important to note that some holding restrictions may apply.

To put any shares up for sale on the STF:

  1. Head to your dashboard here.
  2. Scroll down to the "Securities" section and click “Sell Shares” under the "Actions" dropdown.
  3. Specify the number of shares you wish to sell.
  4. Decide on a price per share.
  5. Click “Place Order” and the company’s offering page will now display that shares are available for purchase.

If a buyer purchases those shares, you will receive a notification of the transaction and the funds will transfer into your wallet automatically.

You will have the ability to create and decide on a price to sell the shares. Your share price and a buyer's share price need to match in order for the transaction to go through. You can withdraw your offer at any time, or leave the offer pending for as long as you'd like.
