# Do these shares trade in the public market?
## No, shares do not trade in the public market. We suggest only investing an amount that you are comfortable with losing.
Investments made through Netcapital do not trade in the public markets and are thus illiquid with reselling restrictions, including a one-year holding period for many investments. You should not expect to sell your shares immediately following the close of an offering and should only invest an amount that you are comfortable with losing. There is no guarantee of liquidity on Netcapital. Even if you have the ability to sell your shares, there is no guarantee you will be able to sell them at a price acceptable to you.
